Site Rules « Thread Started on Jun 8, 2008, 4:27pm »
General Rules of Conduct
1.) First and foremost there is to be absolutely NO fighting on my board. If you have a disagreement with another member then try and work it out civilly if not come to me and I'll do what I can to help.
2.) No making fun or insulting anybody because of their skin, sexuality or anything else. Anybody found doing this will be banned with no questions asked. I do not take kindly to insults!
3.) No flooding people's inboxes with requests to join your board or other pointless messages. There is a board set aside for advertising and if you have any questions about the site then feel free to post them in our questions board.
4.) No giving out personal information of other members of this board. The information given to you by others is confident and they don't need everybody knowing their buisness.
5.) No harassing admins to read your application. We'll get there as soon as we can and it shouldn't take us longer then 24 hours anyway.
6.) Applications: Once you're application has been accepted it will be locked and no major changes to your character can be made so make sure you've got everything the way you want it because ages, personalities, histories and every other aspect of your character will remain as it is.
RPing Rules
1.) Be creative! All posts must be a minimum of one paragraph long. That's five sentences people. That shouldn't be too hard. One liners are boring and anybody found doing them will be warned.
2.) No Godmoding! You have control of your character and your character only.
3.) No Mary Sue's or Gary Stu's! Nobody is perfect and I expect everybody to have some sort of flaw.
4.) Sex - Well now that I have your attention I want to say that sex is fine however it must be kept in the appropriate board. In order to get access to that board you must PM one of the two admins. Also seeing as they go hand in hand, all pregnancies must be cleared with the main admin and are restricted to 6th years and older. Sex of the child will also be picked by the admin.
5.) Number of characters. I don't care how many characters you have all I ask is that you keep them active. Please have at least 20 IC posts with your last character before making a new one. If any of your characters become inactive I will PM you giving you the choice of deleting the character or a trial period to get them active.
6.) As far as characters go I also am going to enforce a 3:1 rule. I don't want the site to become over run with girls so if you make three girls then your fourth character must be a guy. Because there are more girls then guys the rule does not apply to people making guys. You can make four guys in a row without having to worry about making a girl.
7.) Each character you have must be on a separate account and you are only allowed to post with that character on that account.
8.) Added: 7/23/08: We seem to have a lot of people creating characters who were abused, hated and just all around treated badly during their childhood by parents and so on. From now on we will be extremely critical of these characters because even though this is a darker time that does not mean every set of parents, uncles, aunts and other family members abused or assaulted their younger family members.
9.) Added: 7/26/08: Students are students! The same goes for adults. I don't want to see students or adults being able to heal wounds or anything along those lines. You need special training, especially for the more serious injuries (remember Lockhart couldn't heal Harry's broken arm). We have a nurse who isn't able to do much because everybody is healing wounds rather then going to the hospital wing to see the nurse. If an adult is not a Hogwarts employee then obviously they can't see the nurse but they can go to St. Mungo's.
10.) Added: 11/05/08: We are now requiring that ever thread started have the date and time of the thread. So if the month on the site is September you need only to pick a day in September and a time of day. This is to help us know when threads are begun. We are also asking that you post in our timeline thread so that people can at a glance know what's going on with what character's on the site.
Rita Rules
Yes this site has a Rita Skeeter and she will pop up from time to time in random threads. Below are a list of rules for Rita and other characters alike. Remember Rita was an annoying little busybody in the books who seemed to enjoy making the lives of others miserable while publishing the juiciest stories she could find. So please don't get harass our Rita OOC. This is all in fun and people are welcome to comment on article she writes as a reader who's written in.
1.) All public boards are open grounds for Rita which includes Hogwarts (minus common rooms and staff quarters), Hogsmead, Diagon Alley, St. Mungo's and the Ministry (minus the private offices of employees). This includes our MC board if the thread happens out in the open. Again if it's behind closed doors (private office, bedroom or someone's home) Rita does not have access.
Consequences
Below is how our consequences will work for people caught breaking the rules.
1.) Warning - Either myself or another admin/mod will PM you warning you about whatever the rule was that you broke.
2.) Few days suspension - If you're caught breaking the same rule a second time then you will be banned anywhere from one to five days. It's up to us as admins to determine how long you're gone.
3.) Week suspension - If for some reason you still have not learned your lesson and you break the same rule a third time then you will be suspended from our site for minimum of one week.
4.) Permanent ban - We're through playing nice. Break the same rule a fourth time and your IP will be banned permanently from our site.
I do reserve the right to add more rules later but if I do everybody will receive a PM telling them to return to the rules because there has been an update.
